Get ready, Kristen Stewart! Charlie’s Angels will be released in Brazil – Cinema news

Brazilian remake written by Suzana Pires, series will be produced by Sony Pictures Television.

With different versions on TV and in cinemas, the Charlie’s Angels franchise has been part of the pop culture imagination for almost 50 years. After being rescued in the early 2000s with Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore in the spotlight, the property received a reinterpretation in 2019, with a team led by Kristen Stewart. Now, it’s time for a trio of Brazilian actresses to take on the role of spies.

Announced this Thursday (09), a new series of Charlie’s Angels will be produced and set on Brazilian soil. In development by Sony Pictures Television – Kids and Floresta, the production should rescue the essence of the franchise with the text by actress and writer Suzana Pires, known for her work on projects such as A Magia de Aruna, Casa Grande, Loucas pra Casar and Tropa de Elite.

The plot will follow three teenagers from different backgrounds and realities who are selected to join a secret spy school, the Angels Academy. In each episode, they must solve crimes and save the world while dealing with youth issues. According to Deadline, the series is expected to promote “a mix of real, relatable and sometimes absurd stories, augmented with elements of fun and dream fulfillment.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to develop this incredible Sony intellectual property for a younger, more modern audience,” said Joe D’Ambrosia, executive vice president and general manager of SPT – Kids.

“We’re leaning into unmissable storytelling while staying true to the series’ original premise: mystery, adventure, comedy, and empowered young women balancing homework, practicing softball and the fact that they are teenagers, while also saving the world.”

“When Thiago Teitelroit (Floresta) and Sony invited me to be part of the adaptation of Charlie’s Angels in Brazil, I could only respond with a resounding yes,” said Pires. “We will deliver elaborate spy plots and lots of adventure with the essential touch of comedy and a narrative touch. A great piece of Latin entertainment for everyone to enjoy.”

Inspired by a successful series from the 1970s, Charlie’s Angels (2000) and Charlie’s Angels (2003) can be seen on Max, Netflix and Prime Video. The 2019 reboot is available on Sony One and for digital purchase or rental.

There is still no release date for the Brazilian version of As Panteras.
