The champion of Big Brother Brazil 2020, Thelma Assis39 years old, says he was “in shock” with the situation caused by floods in Rio Grande do Sul, after starting her work as a volunteer at Hospital Nossa Senhora das Graças, in Canoas. She is in the city accompanied by two other ex-BBBs who are also doctors, Amanda Meirelles and Marcela McGowan.

“I arrived here in Canoas and I was in shock. The city was underwater, more than half of the city was underwater,” said Thelminha while participating in the program Meeting with Patrícia Poetafrom TV Globo, this Wednesday, 8.

According to Thelma, health professionals divided themselves between their specialties to assist local doctors, who are working extra hard to overcome the situation. The champion of BBB was placed to work as an anesthetist in the operating room.

“We got together with a group of pediatricians, and each one is working in their own specialty. The work has been to help the health professionals here who are overworked, many are not able to get out of the hospital and end up working twice as long,” he explained. .

More than the lack of doctors, the city has also been suffering from the lack of infrastructure. According to Thelma, 19 of the 30 Basic Health Units (UBS) in the municipality were inoperable due to the rain. On her Instagram, she explained her volunteer work at the hospital and asked for help through donations of medicines and hospital supplies.
