The rerun of Tropical paradise (2007) in Vale a Pena Ver de Novo brought actor Rodrigo Veronese, Lucas’s interpreter, back to the video. At the time of the soap opera, his character was very successful and won the public’s support for a happy ending with Ana Luisa (Renée de Vielmond).

The consecration in the Globo soap opera came after the heartthrob’s turbulent departure from SBT. Rodrigo had been hired by Silvio Santos’ network to star in a soap opera, but ended up leaving the production.

The actor, who never set foot on SBT again after that, has been away from serials since participating in O Outro Lado do Paraíso (2017), on Globo. In a recent interview, he revealed that he dreams of returning to soap operas.

Change of actors

In 2006, SBT invested in the production of the soap opera Cristal, another national version of a Mexican text. Director David Grimberg began work and cast Bianca Castanho and Rodrigo Veronese to play the protagonists. She came from the hits Canavial de Paixões (2003) and Esmeralda (2004), while he shone in Pequena Travessa (2002).

However, shortly after the work began, Silvio Santos decided to remove Herval Rossano from the Band and placed him in the general direction of Cristal, replacing David Grimberg. The veteran then made several changes to the plot, even changing the text and the cast.

Rossano chose to take the role of the good guy from Rodrigo Veronese and gave it to Dado Dolabella, who had been dismissed from the cast of Cobras & Lagartos on Globo.

The director offered Veronese the villain, Gustavo Palhares, but he didn’t accept and never returned to the network.

At the time, Rodrigo Veronese gave several interviews, excited about his new job at SBT. The actor even revealed that he gave up his psychology degree for the project, as he would not be able to reconcile the two things. Hence the frustration at losing the paper.

Veronese even filed a lawsuit against SBT, as he revealed in an interview.

“I filed the lawsuit to see that my rights were respected, as well as to defend the artistic class, so that events like this do not happen again. No one deserves to go through the situation I went through. I was not respected”, the actor told the website O Fuxico, at the time.

The situation made him value his arrival at Globo even more, in Paraíso Tropical.

“Paraíso Tropical was a watershed, I proved myself fully aware of what I was doing. It was a 9 o’clock soap opera, by Gilberto Braga [com Ricardo Linhares]I looked and said: ‘You are in the best product you could be, with a lot of affection and respect for others’”, celebrated the artist in an interview on Mais Novela’s Instagram, in August 2021.

Where is Rodrigo Veronese, Lucas from Paraíso Tropical?

Recently, Rodrigo Veronese gave an interview to the website Heloísa Tolipan and revealed whether he believes that the lawsuit he filed against SBT ended up hindering his career.

“No. I felt offended and hurt as a human being because it was something done behind my back. It was something that passed. I was always very cool and a friend to a lot of people, a professional guy, I was never a problem actor, but someone who took a stand in the face of a problem”, he analyzed.

Veronese said that his departure from the video has to do with the fact that he became a father.

“Paternity leave wasn’t something that was discussed that much and when I separated, my son was very young. I didn’t want to be a father just like a financial department, and by working excessively losing the experience with my son. Obviously this was an attempt to be closer to him, since I would have recordings in Rio while he lived in São Paulo. The press absorbed it in a different way and didn’t understand it,” he said.

“It read that I didn’t want to work and that put me in a refrigerator, leaving me to see the doors closed, at a time when a non-patriarchal society is being discussed. I hope the issue of paternity leave is discussed more”, added Rodrigo.

The actor also said that he is moving to return to acting.

“I’m doing the flow back to return to soap operas. The people I knew until the pandemic, the casting producers, are no longer in the same place, but dispersed due to streaming. I really want to make connections, and thus, return to TV, either as an actor or as a presenter”, he stated.
