Mother misses six-day-old newborn in her crib and finds unusual scene: “I started to shake” | Behavior

Anyone who has a child knows — at any moment, you are liable to suffer a “mini heart attack”. The mother of two girls Keila Ferler Sochtig, from Nova Santa Rosa, Paraná, went through this about a month ago, when her newborn, Julia, who was just 6 days old at the time, simply disappeared from her crib. When looking for her, she came across an unexpected scene — the first-born Laura, aged 2 years and nine months, had the baby snuggled in her arms, on the floor, right next to the crib.

The girl stares at her mother, with a shy smile on her face, not understanding what she did wrong. “Mercy, Lord”, adds Keila, in disbelief at the scene.

GROWING UP, Keila said she was in the bedroom changing her clothes and Laura, the oldest, was there, while Julia slept in the crib in the living room. “Laura left the room, I finished putting on my blouse, I noticed she was missing and followed. When I got to the living room, I saw that Julia was no longer in the crib and I immediately got very scared — I was sure I had left her there I went to check around the crib and saw Laura with her in her arms. I was terrified, imagining what could have happened to the baby. I knew that if I told him, he wouldn’t believe it (laughs)”, she said.

The mother says that her eldest daughter is “very talkative” and, in the video, she was completely embarrassed. “She ran out of arguments and couldn’t say anything. I filmed it because I saw that they were both fine. The baby didn’t cry at any point, she was asleep and continued sleeping on her little sister’s lap,” she continued. “Although I was very scared, afterwards, I found the scene so beautiful, a beautiful love between sisters”, she added.

Asked if she discovered how her daughter took her youngest out of the crib, Keila replied: “Exactly not, but we can imagine. Laura must have pulled her by her legs to reach Julia’s arms, and grabbed her under her arms, hugged her and sat down.” Afterwards, the parents talked to their daughter about the risks. “We explained that she can’t hold Julia alone, as it could hurt her. But we said that whenever she wants, she can ask us to put her sister on her lap. She understood and always asks to hold her little sister,” she said.

“Laura is very affectionate with her little sister, she always wants us to put Julia on her lap, she gives a lot of kisses and likes to participate in every moment — when we change her diaper, when bathing… She’s a very careful little sister. We posted the video to share with friends and family, but we never imagined it would have such an impact. We received many messages, especially from mothers saying they had been through the same situation”, he concluded.
