Garry’s Mod loses 20 years of content due to Nintendo; understand!

-

Garry’s Moda sandbox game developed by Facepunch Studios that has no defined objectives beyond providing the player with a world they can manipulate, arrived on Steam in 2006. Since then, several mods created by the community have been released there — with many of them being inspired by Nintendo universe.

Well, after almost 20 years available on Steam, Nintendo is demanding that Facepunch Studios remove all content related to the Japanese giant’s works Garry’s Mod.

“Some of you may have noticed that certain Nintendo-related workshop items have been removed recently,” Facepunch Studios said in a Steam post. “This is not a mistake, the drops occurred due to Nintendo itself.”

“Honestly, that’s fair. This is Nintendo’s content and what they allow and what they don’t allow is up to them. They don’t want you playing with this stuff in Garry’s Mod — it’s their decision, we have to respect that and take down as much as possible [de conteúdo] as we can”, explains the British studio.

“This is an ongoing process as we have 20 years of uploads ahead of us. If you would like to help us by deleting your Nintendo-related uploads and never uploading them again, that would help us a lot,” the statement concluded.

What kind of Nintendo content is available in Garry’s Mod?

It’s no secret that Nintendo is one of the companies that most protects its properties — whether from piracy or even tributes in the form of mods, as is the case with Garry’s Mod.

And the variety of content in Mario’s house on the Steam Workshop is gigantic. Facepunch Studios has already removed some from there, but there are still 42 pages of mods to remove from the platform.
