This Thursday afternoon, Duilio Monteiro Alves, former president of Corinthians, was at the Brazilian Igaming Summit (BIS), a meeting of companies and professionals in the sports betting segment, and was asked if they fear Timão’s relegation in the Brasileirão.

“Not at the beginning, what worries me is how the club is being managed and how things are being done. So yes, if these internal fights between themselves, the directors, the president don’t stop, if they don’t stop, this could happen (demotion). In football, the environment is difficult for you to get results, even if you do everything right, we always had, for example, the shielded CT, the trips, the athletes were always in a shielded situation so they could do their work calmly. And what we have seen lately is not that, I believe that yes, it could arrive at the end of the year with risk. But there is time to fix, to adjust, Corinthians is very big and now they just need to focus on what needs to be done”, he analyzed in an interview carried out by Radio Bandeirantes.

Duílio also explained the information related to image rights contained in the 2023 financial statement, which was released by the My Timon on Wednesday, and answered whether he still thinks about returning to play a role at the Parque São Jorge club.

“No, today, regardless of being in the last term as president for the last 3 years, I am a Corinthian fan, I was born a Corinthian fan, everything that says about Corinthians gives us joy or sadness. So there’s not much that resonates (with me), often due to the lack of information that is generated. For example, balance sheet numbers. Yesterday, I saw a lot of journalists out there publicizing the increase in image rights debts. Whoever is going to publicize this needs to understand what is in these numbers and what is in these numbers”, he explained.

“For example, there are no outstanding image rights debts in this amount, all players who renewed their contract in the past or were hired like Matías Rojas, Gil who renewed for another year, these image rights remain with you pay during the period. So it is not due yet, it is not due and they have not increased. You can also see in this spreadsheet that they put Roger Guedes with more than 8 million reais, Roger Guedes was paid 100%, what is there is the part. of the federative rights that Corinthians sold, when they receive it, which they will pay in 4 years, they have to pass it on because it is part of it which is 60% of this value, which gives the 8 million that are in the spreadsheet, a part of which he has already received from the first payment “, added the former president.

The former president harshly criticized Timão’s current board and commented on the political crisis that the club is experiencing behind the scenes.

“There is a new financial director who thought he should put a new graph on the spreadsheet to justify what they said all this time. It’s sad, we know what was done, the numbers are there, time will tell, there’s no point in us coming here responding every day to what comes from the other side. The board has to worry about taking care of Corinthians, there is a lot to be done, stop trying to make excuses for some things or make some promises. You have to work, there is no other way, you have to work, focus, as was the case with Cássio. Football has been having a problem with directors fighting. There’s no point in throwing numbers or talking about past administrations, we need to keep moving, Corinthians is a giant and whoever is there needs to work for the club”, he concluded.
