The update of the table tennis world rankings was released last Tuesday, the 23rd, for week 17. Highlights include Bruna Takahashi, who rose two positions and is now 18th among women. With 40 points in the World Cup in Macau, Bruna reached 1,022 points, surpassing Germany’s Ying Han and France’s Jia Nan Yuan, consolidating herself among the top 20 in the world.

Hugo Calderano remains in the highest position among adult Brazilian athletes, occupying eighth place in the male ranking. Calderano discarded 45 points, currently has 2,530 points and dropped one position compared to last week. His fall is also a reflection of the rise of China’s Lin Gaoyuan, currently in fifth place. Now, Chinese table tennis players occupy the top five places in the ranking.

Vitor Ishiy maintained his 203 points, but moved up one position and is now 98th. Eric Jouti added points at the WTT Feeder in Havirov, in the Czech Republic, moving up five positions and currently occupying 112th place. Rounding out the Brazilian National Team athletes, Guilherme Teodoro remained in 133rd position, maintaining his 145 points.

The biggest rise of the week among Brazilians was that of Felipe Arado. After winning the WTT Youth Contender title in Santiago, Arado rose 146 positions and is now part of the select group of the 300 best table tennis players in the world.

In the women’s ranking, Giulia Takahashi maintained her 241 points, but dropped three places and is now 88th. Olympic and Paralympic athlete, Bruna Alexandre also maintained her score – 77 points – and dropped three positions, currently occupying 181st place.

In doubles there were no ranking changes. Calderano and Ishiy remain in 42nd position in the men’s world rankings. In the female category, the Takahashi sisters, Bruna and Giulia, occupy 39th place. In the mixed races, Vitor Ishiy and Bruna Takahashi remain in 14th.
