Strasbourg (France) – Beatriz Haddad Maia’s calendar will remain busy until Roland Garros. Currently competing in the WTA 1000 in Madrid, where debuted with victory this Thursdaythe number 1 in Brazil should head to Rome and will have a new stop before finally going to Paris, at the end of May.

Through a post on Instagram stories, the WTA 500 in Strasbourg confirmed Bia’s participation in the 2024 edition. With this, the Brazilian left-hander will join seven other players in the current top 20, such as Jessica Pegula, Jasmine Paolini, Danielle Collins, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Liudmila Samsonova, Elina Svitolina and Madison Keys.

Other big names that will be at the French tournament are Barbora Krejcikova, Sloane Stephens, Leylah Fernandez, Karolina Pliskova, Sofia Kenin and Emma Raducanu, all Grand Slam finalists (Krejcikova, Stephens and Raducanu were champions).

The Strasbourg tournament will take place from May 19th to 25th, ending exactly one day before the start of the Roland Garros main draw. In the same week, the WTA 250 in Rabat, Morocco, will also be played on clay courts.

Bia follows the script of recent years

By amending three competitions in a row before arriving at Roland Garros, Bia will follow a similar calendar to what she did in the last two seasons, when she played exactly three tournaments in preparation for the second Grand Slam of the season.

In 2022, shortly after defending Brazil in the Billie Jean King Cup, the São Paulo native stopped in the first round of the WTA 1000 in Madrid, after entering as a lucky loser, and reached the decision of two events in the 125 series, becoming champion in Saint Malo and vice in Paris. Last year, Bia fell again in her debut in Madrid and reached the quarterfinals in Stuttgart and Rome.
