By scoring three goals in 5-1 rout by Al-Nassr over Al-Tai, Cristiano Ronaldo reached a rare milestone in the history of football: Has hat tricks for 15 consecutive years in his career. Only Pelé and Messi have similar streaks – the Argentine can surpass him in 2024. CR7 can still be the first top scorer player in four different leagues.

Cristiano Ronaldo now has 882 career goals. He reached his 64th hat-trick. The first was in 2008, and the sequence could be 17 years in a row. However, he spent 2009 without scoring three goals in a game, and the current series dates back to 2010. The year with the most hat-tricks for CR7 was in 2011: nine.

Messi, in turn, scored three goals in the same game for the first time in 2007. In 2008, he did not achieve this feat. But since 2009, he has scored hat tricks every year. He can reach 16 consecutive years with hat tricks if he manages one in 2024. The Argentine star has 57 in his entire career.

The player with the most hat-tricks in the history of football according to the Guinness Book, the book of records, is Pelé. The King scored 92 throughout his career. Like CR7, the Brazilian idol recorded 15 consecutive years with at least one hat-trick: between 1957 and 1971.

The RSSSF portal, a foundation that gathers football statistics, cites two other players with higher numbers: the German Erwin Helmchen, with 141 between 1924 and 1951, and the Hungarian Ferenc Deak, with 100, between 1939 and 1959. The data, however , are not recognized by other international entities.

Cristiano Ronaldo reached 39 goals in 41 matches for club and country in 2023/34. He now has 26 in the Saudi Championship and is the tournament’s top scorer, four more than Al-Hilal’s Mitrovic. The Portuguese is chasing a record in this race: being the first player in history to be the top scorer in four different leagues.

Cristiano was top scorer in the Premier League in 2007/08, for Manchester United, in La Liga in 2010/11, 2013/14 and 2014/15, with Real Madrid, and in Serie A, in Italy, in 2020/21, with the Juventus.

Al-Nassr is second in the Saudi Championship, with 59 points, 12 less than leader Al-Hilal. The team returns to the field this Tuesday, at 4 pm, against Abha.
