Rodolfo Landim spoke to political allies and opened up about Gabigol

Gabigol is spending the last few months as a Flamengo player, after all, the striker has a contract until December this year and has not yet agreed on a renewal. In conversation with political allies, red-black president Rodolfo Landim justified the reason for the lack of agreement with the athlete. Furthermore, the agent said that the number 10 only has to lose if he doesn’t stay at Mais Querido.

We are not giving up, we just won’t be held hostage to any value arbitrated by him, far above the market he has to renew. This was the main reason why we did not renew in the past. And no player will lose more if his contract is not renewed than him precisely because he is a great idol. The loss of image that he will have and will be reflected throughout his life will be brutal, I have no doubt about that”, said Rodolfo Landim, in a WhatsApp group with allies.

Rodolfo Landim gave the statement after being asked by the group’s members about the interview given to Rádio CBN, on Sunday (31). At the time, the agent commented that he would resolve the issue at the end of the season, even with the risk of losing Gabigol for free. It is important to note that number 10 can sign a pre-contract with another club from July onwards.

NEW CHAPTER: SUSPENSION

Flamengo and Gabigol started talks for renewal at the end of last year. According to the player’s representatives, there was a verbal agreement. However, the club denied, leaving a new round of dialogue for 2024. However, the striker received a two-year suspension for cheating on an anti-doping test.

FLAMENGO WILL PROVIDE SUPPORT

Even with the possibility of suspending the contract – and failing to pay salaries – Flamengo will continue to honor Gabigol’s wages during the period he is serving his sentence. Furthermore, Rubro-Negro will provide support to attempt a suspensive effect or even acquittal of the sentence.

Thus, without Gabigol, Flamengo debuts in the Libertadores on Tuesday (02), when they face Millonarios (COL), in the first round of Group E. The ball starts at 7pm (Brasília time), at Estádio El Campín, in Bogotá, Colombia. Coluna do Fla broadcasts the duel live on YouTube.
