David Luiz wins place from Fabrício Bruno, spared due to physical exhaustion

Flamengo is ready for its debut in the Libertadores. This Monday (01), Tite defined the team that will face Millonarios (COL), on Tuesday (02), in the first match of the continental competition. The only change in relation to the team that beat Nova Iguaçu on Saturday (30) is the entry of David Luiz in the place of the spared Fabrício Bruno.

Rossi, Varela, David Luiz, Léo Pereira and Ayrton Lucas; Pulgar, De La Cruz and Arrascaeta; Luiz Araújo, Cebolinha and Pedro.

Fabrício Bruno came from an intense sequence of games. Starting in Brazil’s friendlies against England and Spain, on March 23 and 26, the defender had no rest and also played 90 minutes against Nova Iguaçu, on Saturday (30). Therefore, the number 15 shirt showed muscle wear and will be preserved by coach Tite.

The person who also faced a sequence of games and a trip from Europe to Brazil was De La Cruz. Flamengo’s technical committee even considered preserving the midfielder, but the Uruguayan will start the duel as a starter. Furthermore, with the change of Fabrício Bruno to David Luiz, the other ten athletes are the same ones who started the clash with Nova Iguaçu, in the first final of the Campeonato Carioca.

According to the Coluna do Fla report, Tite opted for David Luiz due to his relationship with Léo Pereira. Flamengo’s new reinforcement, Léo Ortiz has not yet entered the field for Rubro-Negro. The number 23 teamed up with Léo Pereira in the Libertadores 2022 title campaign and that’s why he was chosen.

The report from the main news website about Flamengo also found that all the athletes who traveled to Bogotá trained normally at the Colombian Federation’s CT, without restrictions. In other words, the players are at Tite’s disposal. The coach will define who will be on the bench and also who will not be included in the debut.

Millonarios x Flamengo will be this Tuesday (02), at the El Campín Stadium, in Bogotá, Colombia, in the first round of Group E of the Libertadores. As usual, Coluna do Fla broadcasts the game live on YouTube, with narration by Rafa Penido, comments by Tulio Rodrigues and reports by Leo José and Simon Ledo, directly from the game stage.

Additionally, ESPN (closed) and Star+ (streaming) show the clash. In addition to Flamengo and Millonarios, they are also part of Group E Palestino (CHI) and Bolivar (BOL), who debut on Thursday (04), in Chile. The clash will be at 9pm (Brasília time).
