Throughout his career, the Rage Against the Machine released four studio albums. The most recently, “Renegades” (2000), came out almost a quarter of a century ago. Despite this, in the guitarist’s opinion Tom Morelloanother artist recently achieved the feat of creating a political song along the same lines as the group in the past.

For the https://twitter.com/tmorello/status/1787700561892221114 (via NME), the musician revealed what the song in question is: “Hind’s Hall”by the American rapper Macklemore. Released by surprise this Monday (6), the track was inspired by the pro-Palestine protests that took place at universities in the United States in recent weeks.

In his lyrics, the singer also critically addressed topics such as the government of American President Joe Biden (“you have blood on your hands, Biden”), censorship on social media (“you can buy Meta, but you can’t buy me ”) and the problems of capitalism, in addition to calling for the freedom of Palestine. Thinking about the theme, the clip, published on social media, featured images of the conflicts between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Therefore, Morello, who demonstrated support for the aforementioned student demonstrations, wrote:

“Honestly, Macklemore’s ‘Hind’s Hall’ is the most Rage Against The Machine song since Rage Against The Machine itself.”

All profits from “Hind’s Hall” will go to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), which provides assistance and protection to Palestinian refugees. Listen below:

Last January, drummer Brad Wilk announced that Rage Against the Machine will not tour or perform again. The statement was not so specific and none of his bandmates spoke out — which left fans even more confused.

In the post, the musician stated:

“I know a lot of people are waiting for us to announce new dates for all of the canceled Rage Against the Machine shows. I don’t want to bully people or myself anymore. So, while there has been communication about the possibility of this happening in the future… I want to let you know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will no longer be touring or playing shows. I feel sorry for those waiting for this to happen. I really wanted it to happen.”

It all started in October 2022, when RATM canceled all of its performances scheduled for the following year. Europe and the United Kingdom were affected — and there were rumors that the quartet would come to Brazil.

The reason offered at the time was an injury suffered by Zack de la Rocha to his Achilles tendon, which had already forced the singer to perform seated for the remainder of the North American tour, the group’s first activity since 2011. However, the dates were actually cancelled, without rescheduling.

In a March 2023 interview with Rolling Stone, Tom Morello left up in the air the possibility of the band returning to the road after these cancellations. Even with even more direct questions about his return, he avoided giving a more concrete answer.

“We’ll see. If there are more shows, we will announce it as a band. I don’t know. I know as much as you do, honestly. We are now in a time of healing. I’m in the moment of making music and a lot of other things. If there’s never another show from us again, I think this tour accomplished its mission. It’s not about how much you travel, but about what it’s like during those moments when you do. Rage Against the Machine has played 19 shows in the last 12 years. Their repercussions sound like historical events, which promote the idea of what the band is like live on stage.”

The situation took on additional contours in November, when Rage was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Morello was the only member to attend the official ceremony. At the beginning of December, Inside Out, Zack de la Rocha’s pre-RATM band, reactivated their social networks, showing signs of a return after 31 years of inactivity.
