The Celebration Tour in Rio | The BEST moments from Madonna’s incredible show in Copacabana

-

Madonna has always known how to make a huge impact in each of its eras on the music and entertainment scene – and of course this would not have been any different in its apotheotic show on Copacabana Beach this last day May 4th.

Bringing together more than 1.6 million of people on the sands of Rio de Janeiro, the show brought two hours of dozens of hits in her career that consecrated her as the eternal queen of popbringing more than special guests to the stage (such as Anita It is Pablo Vittar), in addition to promoting a very welcome discourse on sexual liberation, female empowerment, the LGBTQIA+ community and a celebration of self that condensed four decades of pure success into one unforgettable and memorable night.

With this in mind, we have prepared a brief list listing the five best moments of the show and which, without a shadow of a doubt, will be marked in the memory of each of the fans present there – and those who watched from home.

Check out our choices below and tell us which one was your favorite:

“BURNING UP”

Shortly after starting the show with performances by “Nothing Really Matters”, “Todo Mundo” It is “Into the Groove”Madonna took a few minutes to talk to Brazilian fans, thanking them for taking part in that very special event and telling them that they would accompany her on a journey through her career.

Emblematically, Madonna commented on the moment she moved to New York, in the early 1980s, in order to achieve her dream of becoming a professional dancer. As we well know, certain plans change and, in 1983, she released her first studio album – and graced us with a spectacular rendition in rock of the classic track “Burning Up”setting Copacabana on fire in the best way possible.

“LIVE TO TELL”

Since the beginning of her career, Madonna has always been an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community, putting herself in danger mainly due to the inexplicable stigmas that accompanied this social minority. And as the HIV/AIDS epidemic ravaged the United States and claimed thousands of lives, she felt compelled to support them even more.

Don’t forget to watch:

It is no surprise that, in her presentation in Rio de Janeiro, she dedicated the performance of “Live to Tell” for the victims of the infection – drawing tears in an emotional and passionate surrender. As if that weren’t enough, she didn’t take advantage of the moment to pay homage to names like Cazuza, Renato Russo, Caio Fernando Abreu and other icons of national culture who died because of HIV.

“LIKE A PRAYER”

While some associate Madonna’s image with a problematic aesthetic, I prefer to see her as ambitious and bold – and, as we well know, she never thought twice before associating religious imagery with her songs. In 1989, she shocked the world with her impeccable iteration “Like a Prayer”which earned him criticism from the Catholic Church and which angered traditionalist society not only at the time, but now.

Of course Madonna would bring the track to ‘The Celebration Tour in Rio’ and would take the opportunity to make a significant impact during the show – mainly by interpolating it with “Unholy”collaboration of Sam Smith It is Kim Petrasand brief embellishments of the monologue by “Act of Contrition”/“Girl Gone Wild”.

“VOGUE” + BALLROOM

Without a doubt, “Vogue” is the best song ever signed and produced by Madonna and caused a repercussion when released in 1990. Appropriating the culture ballroom of the black and Latino trans community in 1970s New York and leading it to mainstream to ensure visibility for one of the social groups that suffers most from marginalization, the track is celebrated to this day as an anthem of empowerment and liberation.

And considering the song’s ongoing legacy on the music scene, Madonna dedicated an entire segment to the culture in question by inviting Anita take to the stage for a dance battle vogue and dubbing that earned applause from spectators – and featured superb performances, including that of his daughter, Estere Cicconejust eleven years old.

“MUSIC”

It is customary for international artists to make countless references to Brazil when they come to perform in our country – and Madonna wouldn’t have it any other way, especially considering that the show in Copacabana served as a conclusion to the acclaimed tour. And, just before performing “Music”she gave space to a group of talented rhythmists from Viradouro, Hose, Hummingbird, Portela and other samba schools to spice up the structure of the classic single in the most celebratory way possible.

And that wasn’t all: Madonna invited none other than Pablo VittarThe drag queen most famous on the planet, to dance on stage and ensure more visibility for the LGBTQIA+ community in an exaltation of electro-samba and a tribute to the great names in national history.
