The bassist stated that he did not know what the setlist would be for each night, as can be seen in a transcript published on the Blabbermouth website last Wednesday (April 24).

“What I remember most about it in 2003 was not knowing what the setlist was going to be each night. I don’t know if that was on purpose, or if we were just so emotional, or if Lars [Ulrich, responsável pela montagem do setlist] He was so emotional that he couldn’t tell me exactly what we were going to play. So I was learning songs like ‘Phantom Lord’ on short notice. And they hadn’t played ‘Phantom Lord’ in a long time,” Trujillo recalled.

“There was all this energy around me and my head was kind of swimming with the pressure of the show, the pressure of being the new bass player, but also the pressure of having to put together a song in the early afternoon on the day we were going to play.” , added the bassist, who turned around and took his place.

“You just have to learn and adapt and do your best, and that’s how it was at that show at the Fillmore. I hit the ground running, and a few years later I said, ‘I’m going to do my best to learn songs that we’re not even playing and that aren’t even on the radar. I’m going to learn Orion. I’m going to learn Dyers Eve.’ I just don’t like being on the edge of my seat, having to learn songs during the day or something.

Since joining Metallica, Trujillo has recorded three studio albums, the most recent of which is “72 Seasons”, released in April 2023.
