Almost ten years after the original feature, the sequel hits theaters in June this year.

There’s just over a month to go until Inside Out 2 premieres, but there are already some script decisions that have been “aired” by the project’s producers. By adding new elements to Riley’s life, director Kelsey Mann will show the beginning of adolescence of this character that the public knew so well in the past.

With a time jump, the girl is now older, going through the much-feared puberty. Along with her maturation, the young girl’s mind control room is also undergoing demolition to make way for something totally unexpected: new emotions.

Inside Out 2: Unreleased scenes from the animation present another emotion to shake Riley’s mind

The familiar ones, Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who have been running a successful operation for a long time, are not sure how to feel when new tenants arrive on the premises, one of them being the much-feared Anxiety. Next to the little orange being that was presented in the first teaser In the sequel, Boredom, Embarrassment and Envy will also make their debut in the feature film.

During a press conference held in Emeryville, California, the animation director spoke about an element that was left out of the narrative, but that he and the director liked so much that they would love to add it to a possible third film.

“I hesitate because I think, ‘It’s a good idea and it should come back, and I don’t know what’s going to happen in this world, but it needs to come back.’ We had a land called Procrastination Land, and I love that land. The joke was that it was always under construction, and it’s a Land of Procrastination to come. And they’re like, ‘When are they going to finish this place? Oh, one day they’ll sort it out.'” he said.

During post-production, Pixar convened a group of girls aged 13 to 19 to evaluate the film every three months, with new cuts at each session. At one of the screenings, the teenagers were frustrated with this point in the film being removed.

“I want to see that thing shoot”: Inside Out 2 will not abandon the idea presented at the end of the original film

“They asked, ‘Where is the Land of Procrastination? You have to bring it back,’ and it’s a really funny idea. I’m going to hold back a joke that I think is so funny, because I’m like, ‘It’s going to come back. You’re going to see the Land of Procrastination at some point.'”, added the filmmaker.

Despite working well in the comedic aspect of the film, the team “couldn’t fit it naturally” into the plot. Mann explains, “It always felt forced. In these movies, you just have to make sure you’re getting forward momentum and Land of Procrastination is the opposite of moving forward – it makes you stop. Then suddenly the movie stopped completely and we thought , ‘That’s really funny.’ But it just stopped. But I swear we can make this work. [no futuro].”

The result of Riley’s new adventures and her emotions will be in theaters from June 14th.
