In an interview with ComicBookthe director Francis Galluppi (‘The Last Stop in Yuma County’) revealed he is a big fan of the franchise’The Demon’s Death‘.

Recently confirmed in charge of the new chapter of the saga, the filmmaker spared no praise for the classic films.

“I’m a huge fan of ‘Death of the Devil’ and I care a lot about this franchise. It’s one of those films that made me want to direct films. I grew up watching ‘Back to the Future’ and ‘Indiana Jones’, but there’s something about ‘Death of the Devil’ where you can really see how much fun director Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell were having while shooting the film. It was very innovative and really inspired me to pick up a camera, get my friends together and create a short film. My office is full of references to the franchise, so I’m very excited to run [o novo filme].”

He completes, “All films are perfect. I like them all, for different reasons. Obviously, ‘One Night Stand 3’ came out when I was the perfect age, and ‘Death of the Devil’ had a huge impact on me when I was 18. I love Fede Álvarez and Lee Cronin’s films. I’ve watched them all, even the series [Ash vs. Evil Dead’].”

It is worth remembering that there are two projects based on the franchise ‘The Demon’s Death‘ under development. Sébastien Vaničekof the coming ‘Infestation‘, will also direct a new iteration of the saga.

Previously, Vaniček stated that he wants to create a real horror experience, and it seems that he will spare no effort to deliver one of the most grotesque chapters of the saga.

“I told the studio that I want to make a grotesque film that really hurts and leaves an impression on viewers. I’m going to put all the terror I have inside me, and it will be cathartic. If I don’t ruin my career and can continue directing horror films, I will move on and direct other genres,” declared the director.

The filmmaker also mentioned that the producer Sam Raimi and the studio gave him “100% creative freedom”and that he intends to bring a “French perspective” the saga.

In addition to driving, Vaniček will also sign the script for the feature film.

Don’t forget to watch:

Unfortunately, details about the plot have not been released, but the project is being treated as a spin-off of the saga – and should probably present an independent story, like the last two iterations.

Death of the Demon: The Rise‘ raised solid US$147 million worldwide – which represents the highest grossing film in the franchise’s history. Furthermore, horror also won over critics, reaching 84% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Previously, Bruce Campbellthe star of the original franchise and current producer of the saga, had shared details about the upcoming films in the saga: “We’re going to release them probably every two or three years now, rather than every 10 years. But hey, we saw with Star Wars – you don’t want to tire people out. Keep them guessing! We never wore down our reception with Evil Dead because we never stifled them.”
