More than ten years away from the franchise, the Hollywood star is ready to embark on new intergalactic adventures.

After trying out the most daring maneuvers as Dom Toretto in The Fast and the Furious, Vin Diesel must return to an old career role. Known for dedicating himself to action-oriented roles, with credits in films such as Triple X, The Avenger, Mission Babylon and even Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Endgame as Groot, the Hollywood star will revisit a franchise that has been dormant for over ten years: Riddick.

Announced in February last year, Riddick: Furya gained momentum in its production and is now ready to start recording. With filming scheduled to begin on August 26th, with visits to Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom, Vin Diesel will return to the intergalactic saga as the protagonist and producer alongside David Twohy, the director responsible for all the features in the franchise.

Set in the distant future, the original film shows how interplanetary travel is commonplace, allowing humanity to discover a large part of the universe. During a trip manned by hundreds of people towards the planet New Mecca, an accident occurs and the ship is forced to land on an unknown planet.

Of the entire crew, only six people survive the fall, who discover that they are on a planet populated by thousands of carnivorous creatures, which hibernate in local caves, but which will hunt in the open sky with the arrival of the next eclipse. The only weapon they have against the monsters is light, but even so the planet has no electricity and the batteries in their suits are running out.

Vin Diesel’s next movie may seem like a joke, but after the success of Barbie, it’s more real than ever

Successor to Mortal Eclipse (2000), The Battle of Riddick (2004) and Riddick 3 (2013), the film will show the antihero back on his home planet, a place he barely remembers and that he fears he could be in ruins. But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new monster. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.

While the first feature film is only available for purchase or digital rental on Prime Video and AppleTV, the second film can be seen on Telecine and the third on Netflix. With recording starting in the second half of the year, it is possible that Riddick: Furya will hit theaters by the end of 2025.
