Original feature film shows a vacation trip that turns into a nightmare.

The shocking Danish horror Speak No Evil was released in 2022 by Christian Tafdrup, who wanted, in his own words, to deliver the “most disturbing film in the history of Danish cinema”. And we can say that he succeeded, as the macabre family excursion made such an impression that it is already receiving an American remake.

The new version is scheduled to hit theaters in the United States on September 13, 2024, and promises to be quite shocking. In the cast, X-Men star James McAvoy shows his darker side as a domineering family man. The film also stars Mackenzie Davis, from Terminator: Genesis.

This is what Speak No Evil is all about

Enjoying a family vacation is a wonderful thing – and that’s exactly the scenario we see in Speak No Evil. In both the original and the remake, a family is invited to visit the estate of people they befriended while on vacation. And the new friends seem very charming at first glance – but slowly a frightening truth is revealed.

The remake is directed by James Watkins, a director known to fans of the genre for titles such as No Exit and The Woman in Black. In addition to McAvoy and Davis, Scoot McNairy (Argo) and Aisling Franciosi (The Nightingale) can also be seen in the film.
