Director denied the claim that more than 3,000 models were created with AI for the film
This year we will have a new Hellboy film and it ended up being the subject of a lot of discussion in recent weeks due to the statement from the president of the film’s producer, Millennium Films, saying he created 3000 different creature designs in just 1 hour using AI. With this, the director and co-writer of the production, Brian Taylor used its social networks to ensure that AI was not used at any point in production.

“To be clear: There is exactly zero use of AI in Hellboy: The Crooked Man. Both the Hellboy and Crooked Man characters were created and shot 100% practically, as it should be, without any CGI enhancements and it looks amazing.”
The comment that started all the trouble for Hellboy happened during a discussion on Berlin International Festival where the president of Millennium Film, Jonathan Yunger saying that he used AI in the film:
“It was possible to create 3000 creature designs in one hour. So now I can choose the best ones, edit them and send them to the visual effects people.”
Regarding the president’s statement, Taylor https://twitter.com/theunrealBT/status/1785504281660960977?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1785504281660960977%7Ctwgr%5E574937247c94cd0d15f48ed43746d1d901c32f06%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fcomicbook.com%2Fmovies%2Fnews%2Fhellboy-the-crooked-man-producer-ai-new-movie%2F although he was wrong with another film and reinforced that Hellboy does not have AI:
“He got confused. The comment referred to a different film, The Offering. I can assure you that there is zero AI in Hellboy and our practical effects character is phenomenal. The article was probably written by AI…”
Director states that the characters’ appearance was created with practical effects
