The Judiciary of Paraíba remains mobilized with the situation of people affected by the climate tragedy that devastated Rio Grande do Sul. In the District of Serra Branca, the head judge of the Municipal Court, judge José Irlando Sobreira Machado, allocated R$ 35,000.00 to the account of the Civil Defense of that State. The initiative is in accordance with the provisions of joint act No. 03/2024 of the General Inspectorate of State Justice and the Presidency of the Court of Justice of Paraíba.
The TJPB measure follows recommendation No. 150/2024, of the National Council of Justice, which allowed the State Courts of Justice to transfer the amounts deposited as payment of monetary benefits and other legal benefits to the account of the Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul .
In addition to the current regulations, judge José Irlando highlighted that, given the state of public calamity in RS, he expresses solidarity with all people affected by the climate tragedy that resulted in irreparable losses. “It is with a feeling of sadness that we witness the extent of the damage caused by this natural disaster, which affected the lives and property of countless families in Rio Grande do Sul,” he declared.
He also pointed out that the Judiciary of Paraiba is committed to Rio Grande do Sul to alleviate the impacts suffered by the population. “In this context, respecting those involved in the tragedy, we reiterate our commitment to cooperation and solidarity between States”, he highlighted.
Monetary Benefits – Monetary benefits are amounts paid in the case of sentences restricting rights, criminal transactions and conditional suspension of proceedings, when a non-deprivation of liberty sentence is applied to the person accused of a crime of lesser offensive potential, or following convictions .
