Without access to her own passport and cell phone, the Brazilian woman Elizabeth Campos Cardoso55 years old, has been detained for six days after being blocked by French immigration at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France.

Born in Cuiabá (MT), the woman traveled to visit friends and intended to spend two days in France. However, upon landing in the country, last Saturday, the 20th, the Brazilian was detained by police officers who informed her that her name would be on a list from the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). Elizabeth is staying in a Red Cross building where she can only stay for eight days.

Elizabeth’s family received notification that she could return to Brazil on Thursday, the 25th. However, she was stopped again during her boarding attempt.

According to Fernanda Baia, Cuiabana’s niece, the airport informed her that Elizabeth’s name would be on the Interpol list due to the theft and loss of her passport in Portugal, on August 24, 2023.

Fernanda reported that her aunt never traveled to Portugal. She also said that Elizabeth has no access to her phone and passed out due to lack of food and nervousness about the situation.

“They learned in a room for 9 hours, without communication with the family. It was total despair. She fainted from so much weakness, they had to put her in a wheelchair. Then they took her to the Red Cross, which is next door at the airport, and they are keeping it there to this day”, he said in an interview with g1.

On Wednesday, the 24th, the woman from Cuiabana had a hearing with a French judge and, at that moment, she received the information that she could not issue any documents and that she should seek the Brazilian consulate in Paris.

The French police then announced that there were no further irregularities in the Brazilian woman’s passport and that she could return to Brazil. The cuiabana’s niece explained that the family has already contacted the consulate and is waiting for the organ to return.

“My aunt is suffering. The Brazilian Federal Police have already said that there is nothing in her passport”, he said.

As a result, the Brazilian’s return is scheduled to take place this Saturday, the 27th, but, according to Fernanda, there is no document that guarantees this.
