Law No. 14,670, of April 25, 2024, was published today, 26th, in the Official State Gazette, establishing September 21st as a date to be celebrated annually as Tax Auditor’s Day of the State of Bahiadesigned to recognize the merit of these professionals and the importance of their activities for the structuring and development of society.
The Bill was authored by Representative @fabiolamansuroficial, who has treated the IAF Sindical and, consequently, the Tax Auditors of the State of Bahia with deference.
Tax Auditors are professionals necessary for the organization of the State that depends on the essential balance between revenues and expenses, which intrinsically contain a multitude of complexities, involving everything from taxation to the structuring of the public budget.
To achieve this purpose, the State, among other duties, needs to carry out research, investigations, economic and financial studies on matters relating to public income and expenditure as well as their impact on the economic and social system and the analysis of tax statistics, duties that are carried out by Tax Auditors.
For the parliamentarian, “given the great relevance, art. 37, item XVIII, guaranteed constitutional seat to
profession of Tax Auditors, establishing that The treasury administration and its tax employees will, within their areas of competence and jurisdiction, take precedence over other administrative sectors, in accordance with the law ”
Also according to the Deputy, “the establishment of a specific day will even serve to raise people’s awareness about the essentiality of the auditors’ activities and also about the importance of collecting taxes for state organization and the full development of society”.
“It was a fight that was being waged by the IAF Sindical which has now come to fruition, with the valuable support of Deputy Fabíola,” said Marcos Carneiro. “We are going to have a celebration at the level that the category deserves, on September 21st”, he celebrated.
The choice of September 21st to celebrate the date is limited to the fact that it is the day of Saint Matthew, who before becoming an apostle, worked as a tax collector.
The IAF Sindical, in accordance with the provisions contained in its statute, has been implementing the Tax Education Project, aiming to disseminate the concepts and social function of taxes. As a stimulus for society’s participation, the IAF Tax Education Award was created, which aims to reward projects executed or in progress with the aim of disseminating the social function of taxes and how society can monitor the inflows and applications of the amounts collected, practicing true social control. The award is aimed at schools, universities, public bodies, city halls, city councils and companies or press or technology professionals.
