O UOL contacted Unifesp to ask for a position on Daniela’s dismissal, but received no response. The report was unable to contact the Weintraub team. The space remains open for demonstrations.

Abraham Weintraub also lost his position

Abraham Weintraub was also fired from Unifesp in February this year. Like Daniela, the former Minister of Education was dismissed from the institution due to abandonment of his position.

In August 2023, payments for both had been suspended. The two had been the targets of investigation for not showing up for work, not justifying it, but continuing to receive salaries.

Abraham had been a professor of Accounting at the institution since 2014. Weintraub left teaching to take over the Ministry of Education under the Jair Bolsonaro government in 2019. He remained in the position until 2020, when he was fired and reassigned to a directorate at the World Bank. He later broke ties with the former president.

Unpaid leave. In a live on YouTube in August 2023, Weintraub explained that he and his wife had requested leave from Unifesp when they went to live outside the country, after he left his position as minister.
