Accident leaves injured in western Bahia

Twenty people were injured in an accident involving a minibus and a pickup truck on BR-242, in Barreiras, in western Bahia. According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the crash took place on Friday morning (26) and at least seven victims are in serious condition.

The minibus left Luís Eduardo Magalhães and was traveling towards Barreiras, a city that is 90.8 km away from the municipality where it departed. During the trip, the driver lost control of the vehicle, went into the wrong lane and collided head-on with the truck. The road was wet and, upon impact, the bus overturned.

The two vehicles were destroyed and crossed on the road after the accident. [Veja foto abaixo]

Eight ambulances from the Luís Eduardo Magalhães Mobile Emergency Care Service were needed to provide assistance to the injured. They were taken to health units in the region:

  Health states: 4 in serious condition and 4 in moderate condition
• Luís Eduardo Magalhães Emergency Care Unit
  Total attended: 8
  Health status: 3 patients in delicate condition and 5 with minor injuries

The PRF did not provide information about the other four injured, who were not taken to the Hospital do Oeste, nor to the UPA of Luís Eduardo Magalhães.

There are also no details on how many injured people were traveling on the bus and in the car at the time of the collision.

The track had to be closed between 8:20 am and 10:20 am, when the vehicles were removed from the scene. After the removal, traffic flowed normally again.
