Analysis carried out by the Economic Information Center of the Federation of Industries of the State of Sergipe (FIES), based on data from the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), revealed that oil production in the state, in the month of February , reached, on average, 8.9 thousand barrels per day (bpd), registering growth of 0.6% in relation to the average production of the previous month (January/2024).

In comparison with February 2023, there was an increase of 74.7%. With the total produced in February, accumulated production throughout 2024 reached around 17.7 thousand barrels, an increase of 101.4% compared to the same period in 2023.

Oil extraction on land and sea

Of the total produced in the second month of 2024, 98.2% or 8.7 thousand barrels per day (bpd) were extracted on land. In this type of production, in relative terms, there was an increase of 0.6% compared to the previous month. In relation to the volume produced in February 2023, an increase in production of 78.2% was noted.

Production at sea reached, on average, 156.5 barrels per day (bpd), covering 1.8% of total production. In comparative terms, there was growth of 3.2% compared to last January. In comparison with February 2023, there was a decrease of 16.4%.

Gas Production in February/2024

Natural gas production, in February 2024, totaled around 1.6 million cubic meters (m³). In relative terms, there was a reduction of 12.9% compared to the previous month (January/2024). In relation to the month of February 2023, there was a growth of 39.8%. In 2024, natural gas production in the state totaled approximately 3.5 million cubic meters (m³), a growth of 44.0% compared to the same period in 2023.

Onshore production was the main source of natural gas production in the state, totaling approximately 1.54 million cubic meters (m³) in the period analyzed. This volume corresponded to 95.7% of the total produced in February, while production at sea was 70 thousand cubic meters (m³), representing 4.3% of production.
