An exchange of gunfire in Morro da Bica, in Praça Seca, West Zone of Rio, left two suspects injured this Monday morning. According to information from the Military Police, agents from the 18th BPM (Jacarepaguá) were patrolling Rua Capitão Menezes, close to the entrance to the community, when they were surprised by armed men, who opened fire, starting the confrontation.

In the exchange of gunfire, two suspects were shot. After the shooting stopped, the police found and seized a 5.56 caliber rifle and a 9mm pistol. Drugs were also seized, yet to be counted.

The injured were taken to the region’s UPA. There is no information on the health status of the men. Identities were not released. The incident was registered at the 28th DP (Campinho).

Attempted invasion in Rocha Miranda

In the North Zone of the capital, drug traffickers carried out an attempted invasion that also ended in a shootout. Bandits from Morro da Serrinha, in Madureira, tried to take over the Faz Quem Quer community, this Monday.

A resident of Serrinha was hit by shrapnel in her left foot. She was treated at the Rocha Miranda UPA and, after being medically discharged, she was taken by police officers from the 9th BPM (Rocha Miranda) to the 29th DP (Madureira), where she gave a statement.
