Women in Santa Catarina receive 41% less than men. The data comes from the 1st Salary Transparency and Remuneration Criteria Report released by the Ministries of Labor, Employment and Women. The survey contains a balance of information sent by 49,587 establishments with 100 or more employees. Nationally, female professionals earn around 20% less compared to positions held by men. In Santa Catarina, 2,692 establishments filled out the report and, according to the calculated average, women receive R$3,200, while men, R$4,500. The difference becomes even greater in positions linked to director and manager, where the difference in values is more than 63%.

Equality

According to the report, in terms of race/color, black women are fewer in the Brazilian job market (2.9 million jobs, 16.9% of the total) and are those with the most unequal income. In SC, for example, black women have an average salary of R$2,500, while black men have an average salary of more than R$3,500. Regarding career plans and positions for women, only 48% of companies in Santa Catarina have shares. Leaving the State 14th in the national ranking. Regarding the policy for hiring women who are victims of domestic violence, only 4.3% of establishments have actions in place. As for incentives for hiring black women, SC is below the national average, which was 26%.

The requirement to send data complies with the equal pay law, sanctioned by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in July 2023. The Ministry of Women notes that overtime, availability for work, production targets, among other criteria, are achieved more by men than by women. The explanation is that workers generally have interruptions in their working hours due to maternity leave and dedication to caring for children and people dependent on them, such as the elderly and people with disabilities (PwD).
