One piece of evidence of this phenomenon is in the Juruá Valley, in the interior of Acre, more than 700 kilometers from Rio Branco, the state capital, where the Café Náuas roaster is located. Based in the municipality of Cruzeiro do Sul, the 54-year-old family company has been led by Patrícia Parente, 29 years old, granddaughter of the founders for nine years.

“We, who are a local industry, have embraced producers in the state, not only buying coffees, but also developing them together”, says she, who, as an art curator, has already formed a group of 55 families from Acre that they supply to the roaster. The coffees form a unique “blend”, which is now on the shelves of local supermarkets and gourmet coffee shops.

According to the young woman, the Parente family’s relationship with producers goes beyond commercial ties. The coffee growers have followed Patrícia’s growth and maturity over the years that she accompanied her parents on visits and her professional development since she took charge of the business. Each month, Café Náuas roasts, on average, 5,000 kilos of beans. This volume then supplies 12 cities in the region.
