O Slipknot held his first official performance with Eloy Casagrande. The Brazilian drummer had played with the band in an intimate warm-up show last Thursday (25), at the bar and restaurant Pappy + Harriet’s, located in Pioneertown, California, United States. Now, it has made its debut at the festival Sick New World, in Las Vegas, last Saturday (27). The masked men are among the headliners, along with System of a Down.

The repertoire featured four songs from the 1999 album of the same name, currently celebrated on the road for its 25th anniversary. The remaining selection sought to include other albums, especially those recorded in the 2000s.
As with other new members, Casagrande has not yet been officially announced as a member of Slipknot. However, beyond the rumors, the musician’s physical size and tattoos even indicate that he would be chosen to replace Jay Weinberg. CBN also claims to have confirmed the information with people close to the instrumentalist.

In recent days, a cryptic billboard has appeared in Indio, California, near the site of the Coachella and Power Trip festivals. The poster features the Slipknot logo, the words “one night only, long may you die” and the URL youcantkillme.com.
On the website in question, there is a video developed with WordPress. As noted by a user on the Reddit forum (via Whiplash), if you run the footage file with the Mozilla Firefox browser and open the source code, you can find that there is an “eloy.jpg” image file created.
Each member, in fact, has their own archive — including a musician named simply “Jeff”, with an unspecified surname, but possibly a replacement for Craig Jones, the keyboardist who left in June last year. Speculation points to Jeff Karnowski, who played bass in Dirty Little Rabbits, a project by percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan.
Another recent indication
On March 9, Slipknot gave another clue related to their new drummer by sharing their first publication in reference to him. Through social media, the band released a photo of a broken drumstick, with the simple caption: “Rehearsal”.
However, the presented drumstick draws attention. As noted by Whiplash and echoed by several fans on social media, it is a Promark signature model — a term used to define an instrument, equipment or accessory made precisely for that musician — by Eloy Casagrande. The accessory was even presented by the instrumentalist in a video recently published on the networks.
Eloy Casagrande, Sepultura and Slipknot
Eloy Casagrande’s departure from his previous band, Sepultura, was announced at the end of last February. The band declared themselves surprised by the decision, communicated internally at the beginning of the month, weeks before starting their farewell tour “Celebrating Life Through Death”. The breakup occurred precisely so that the Brazilian musician could dedicate himself to another project, which has not yet been revealed.
Casagrande’s name has been speculated by Slipknot fans since Jay Weinberg’s dismissal at the end of last year. Interestingly, with his entry, a movement to exchange drummers between three bands occurred. Namely, in three acts:
- First: In November last year, Jay was fired from Slipknot. No clear reason was given by the band in the announcement, just “creative decisions”.
- Second: At the end of February, Eloy Casagrande’s departure was confirmed by Sepultura. The band claims that the Brazilian drummer left “to pursue a career in another project”. Since Weinberg’s dismissal, his name has been rumored in Slipknot.
- Third: Casagrande’s place in Sepultura was taken by Greyson Nekrutman, drummer for Suicidal Tendencies — who called Weinberg to replace him.
