‘I spent R$300,000 on tickets in my old relationship’

Successful in funk two years ago, MC Daniel revealed that he almost became poor again. The 26-year-old funk singer, one of the highlights of “Dance of the Celebrities”, admits that he spent so much that, for very little, he didn’t need to sell his mansion and car and was left with nothing. “I overextended myself. I spent more than I should have. I was dazzled and I lost it,” he said, in an interview with the BrunetCast podcast.

Daniel reveals, for example, that he spent R$300,000 a month on air tickets when he was dating Mel Maia, to go from São Paulo to be with the actress in Rio. The same amount, according to him, was spent on a New Year’s Eve for him, his then-girlfriend and some friends, with expenses such as house rent, drinks, transport and helicopter rides.

The penny only dropped when he was warned by his businessman that he would be poor again. “My manager said: ‘You, in about three, six months, are going to have to sell your house and your cars. You’re going to be poor again. I said: ‘No, for God’s sake, what do I do?’ And he said: ‘You have to stop spending. You ask for R$10,000 every Friday and give R$40,000 a month to people on the streets. You have to stop spending. world. You have to get up, earn your nest egg and then help others on the street'”.

Daniel says that from then on he stopped buying clothes, going out to dinner and spending. “Then I stopped spending, I went back to eating PF (prepared dish). Thank God, I managed to get back on my feet. I went back to the mentality I had before. Before, I survived on R$50 a month.”

The suggestion given by the businessman was that Daniel invest in buying and renting properties to have a fixed monthly income of R$100,000.

“They had this idea and it was great. The person who takes care of my money today is my mother. I want to accumulate a lot of money to help many people and have an NGO. I want to give a car and a house to each person who works with me and help people with disability, autism, depression and Down syndrome. I see myself like this in ten years”, reveals the funk singer.
