Christina Rocha leaves SBT after 42 years, and broadcaster clarifies decision

After the departure of Eliana and Chris Flores, SBT suffered a new loss in the cast: Christina Rocha. The presenter’s departure from the station was announced this Thursday (2), after 42 years of service.

The end of the partnership was confirmed through a note from SBT, days after Rocha left “Tá Na Hora”. In the text, Silvio Santos’ channel reinforced that the decision was by common agreement.

“The communications department informs that SBT and presenter Christina Rocha have decided, by mutual agreement, to terminate the artistic contract between the parties”, said the statement sent to hugogloss.com.

The network also highlighted Christina’s talent and said that the doors are open. “Christina is and will always be an important part of the history of the broadcaster, as well as of Brazilian television, having contributed in a unique and valuable way to all the projects for which she was appointed (…) SBT expresses deep gratitude for all her work and commitment over the years, leaving doors open for Christina,” punctuated the text.

Successful trajectory

Rocha began his career as a model and appeared in films, including “Os Trapalhões”. The experience gave him space to participate in TV Tupi programs, such as “Aqui e Agora”.

In 1980, she migrated to “O Povo na TV”, from TVS Rio, which the following year, became SBT. At the station since its inception, she has commanded programs of different types, including varieties, game shows, sports and journalism, such as “Show da Tarde”, “A Mulher nas Olímpicos”, “Musicamp”, “Sessão Passatempo com O Prefeito Certo” ”, “Aqui Agora”, “Alô Christina”, “Fantasia”, among others.

However, her greatest success began in 2009, when she took over the second phase and reformulated “Casos de Família”, previously led by Regina Volpato. Rocha presented the program for 14 years, until its end, in 2023. In March of this year, she returned to the air, in the premiere of “Tá na Hora”, a popular afternoon show alongside Marcão do Povo. The presenter, however, decided to move away from the format and pointed out health problems in the family. Given the impossibility of her continuing with the program, SBT and Christina chose to leave.
