Although there is no cure, Parkinson’s disease has treatment. Maneco’s daughter said that her father is being treated by doctors and companions the entire time.

‘He is being looked after properly, he has my mother by his side. They have been married for 50 years, I think this relationship is beautiful’, said Júlia.

Author of great Brazilian soap operas, Manoel Carlos passed the legacy of the production company Boa Palavra to his daughter and left the mission of preserving the author’s work. ‘Em Família’ was the last soap opera that Manoel Carlos wrote, in 2014.

Controversial tribute

On Manoel Carlos’ 91st birthday, on March 14 of this year, an episode of the series ‘Tributo’ dedicated to him arrived on Globoplay. The series recalls the life and career paths of great names who made history on Brazilian TV.

The author’s daughter said that her father did not know about the episode and did not receive an invitation to be part of the recording. According to O Globo, Globo’s communications department denied: ‘The author was invited to participate in the episode, as were all the project’s honorees’.

Júlia believes that her father would have accepted if he had been invited and revealed that she missed some soap operas, which were more memorable for Manoel.

Maneco always expresses a special affection for two soap operas, which were not mentioned in the series: ‘The Successor’, starring Susana Vieira in 1978, and ‘Sol de Verão’, from 1983, with Irene Irene Ravache and Jardel Filho.
