Xiaomi plans to be among the five largest automakers in the world

The manufacturer of Xiaomi smartphones is entering the automotive market
. The SU7, the first car in the brand’s history, is now available on the Chinese market with prices starting at 215,900 yuan, just over R$151,000 in direct conversion. These values ​​are much more affordable – 21 thousand reais – than the Tesla Model 3 in the Chinese market.

The sedan measures 4.99 meters in length; 1.96 m wide; 1.45 m high and 3 meters wheelbase. These are numbers close to those of the Honda Accord, for example.

The 215,000 yuan version offers rear-wheel drive, 295 hp of power, 40.78 kgfm of torque and range of 700 km on the Chinese cycle

Those who need more autonomy can opt for the SU7 Pro
which offers the same engine, but larger batteries, which guarantee 830 km of autonomy in Chinese CLTC standard.

Affordable prices make the SU7 a sales success for Xiaomi. The manufacturer claims that in 27 minutes of sales, 50 thousand cars were ordered by customers
. According to the Car News China portal, there were 88,898 orders in just 24 hours
. However, not everything is rosy.

In an interview with the CNBC news channel, Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, admitted that each SU7 unit will be sold at a loss
but offered no further details.

Despite the loss, the expectation of Xiaomi is high. The company states that deliveries will begin in April and that manufacturing will be fully automated, with ability to deliver a car every 76 seconds
