An announcement on the 18th surprised the real estate market. The entrepreneur Luciano Hang – owner of Havan stores – revealed that he plans to build the largest residential building in the world in Balneário Camboriú, on the north coast of Santa Catarina. The project is a partnership with the construction company FG Empreendimentos.

It is speculated that the venture, called Triumphu Tower, will be more than 500 meters high and have around 150 floors. No information has yet been released about the start of works.

In a statement, the businessman’s advisor confirmed that the building will be the largest residential building in the world and highlighted that the project is in the finalization phase. The launch is scheduled for the second half of the year. The value of the investment has not been confirmed.

The project proposal is to overcome the Steinway Tower, located in New York. The skyscraper overlooking Central Park is more than 435 meters tall and has a total of 91 floors. Apartments in this building can cost up to R$350 million.

FG undertakings built the One Tower building in the same region of Santa Catarina, measuring 290 meters and 84 floors.

Hang aims for a project with almost double that size. The new development, with no defined launch date yet, was dubbed the “Brazilian Burj Khalifa”, a reference to the tallest skyscraper in the world, located in the United Arab Emirates, which has 828 meters and 160 luxurious floors.

Civil construction experts consulted by People’s Gazette state that a project like this will require high-tech engineering. Another challenge mentioned is logistics and labor for a construction considered so complex.

Luciano Hang diversifies investments

Luciano Hang, known as “old guy from Havan”, became popular after expressing political opinions on social media during the 2018 presidential election. The billionaire is critical of PT administrations. The businessman owns Havan stores, one of the largest retail chains in the country, which employs more than 15 thousand employees.

According to the magazine’s list Forbes last year, the businessman has a fortune valued at US$3.2 billion, which places him as the 12th richest man in Brazil. Beyond 100 Havan stores spread across the South and Southeast regions, the businessman has a diversification of investments that include retail, e-commercereal estate market and even football teams.
