After a break of almost three years, actress Fernanda Vasconcellos decided to resume her artistic career. Known for giving life to remarkable characters over the last two decades in soap operas, she preferred to stay away from the spotlight to dedicate herself to her son, Romeo, the result of her relationship with fellow actor Cássio Reis, who was born in June 2022.
Initially planning only six months for the break, the experience of motherhood transformed Fernanda’s plans. “When Romeo was born, I imagined, in my fantasy, that I would go back to work soon, but I discovered myself as a mother who can’t let go of her son,” she told Folha de S.Paulo’s F5 website.

The pregnancy took place at a time when confinement was required due to the health crisis caused by the respiratory infection virus. As time passed, Fernanda Vasconcellos’ priorities and desires changed. In this sense, the actress decided to enjoy motherhood without rushing.
“I had never said ‘no’ – and it was important to me. My son taught me to say no. Now, a project has to be good for me and for him”, she says. Despite resuming her career, the actress does not consider participating in intense script readings, nor hours of continuous recording, much less losing weekends dedicated to work.
On Saturday (4), she resumed her career with the play Sra. Klein at Teatro Bravos, in São Paulo. Playing opposite actress Ana Beatriz Nogueira, with whom she had already worked on Globo’s A Vida da Gente (2011), was one of the reasons that convinced her to accept the invitation to the production. Fernanda Vasconcellos’ most recent soap opera was Haja Coração (2016).
