Galecki, who got his start in small TV roles before joining the main cast of Roseanne as David Healy in 1992, didn’t feel particularly comfortable in Los Angeles.

During a home tour with Architectural Digest (via Looper) in February 2024, Galecki, who now lives in Nashville, admitted that she’s never felt particularly happy in Los Angeles.

“I never felt much like an Angelino,” Galecki, who was born in Belgium and raised in Illinois, told magazine. ‘And I tried. I say this with sadness, not with snobbery. Thirty years is just a very long time to live in a city you don’t feel very comfortable in.’

Galecki, who previously dated his Big Bang Theory co-star Kaley Cuoco, is married to Morgan Galecki, and the two have a daughter; he also has a son from his previous marriage to Alaina Meyer.

As Johnny Galecki told Architectural Digest, he’s thought about living in many cities over the years, saying he’s had “a lot of fantasies about living in all the places I would visit, from Austin to Reykjavik.”

In the end, Galecki chose Nashville, telling the magazine, “Everywhere I looked, around here, it seemed like the setting of a future memory.”

Now that Johnny Galecki (for the most part) has left Hollywood behind, it’s easy to forget that he was the second-highest-paid television actor in 2018, behind his co-star Jim Parsons.

With the fortune accumulated thanks to the series, it makes sense that Galecki is taking a break from the industry, although he did appear in a few episodes of the Roseanne spin-off, The Conners.

But his legacy as Leonard remains intact.
