The information comes from Dusk Golem, a famous franchise insider who has made some correct guesses over the last few years. According to the leaker, the Japanese giant is planning to reveal the sequel soon to release it in early 2025 — and the game, supposedly, had been in production for seven years.
“The possible delay that I heard rumors about can be left aside”, explained the insider, who recently reported on a potential postponement of the game. “Resident Evil 9 it should be revealed soon and released next year. If what I heard earlier is true, it should be in January. It took about seven years of development.”

Golem states that development on the sequel began in 2018 to be the final version of Resident Evil 8. In season, village it was treated by Capcom as a spin-off project before eventually becoming the eighth game in the franchise’s main chronology.
