Brazil will not be represented in 3×3 basketball at the Paris Olympics. After the elimination of the men’s team on Saturday, the women’s team lost to Australia in the semi-final of the Pre-Olympic, held in Japan, and was left without a place for the Paris Games. In a balanced game, the team had chances, but lost 18 to 16.

The Brazilian team was formed by Clarissa dos Santos, Luana Souza, Thayná Silva and Vitória Marcelino. The team even led the score at the beginning of the game, but the excess of fouls, and consequently the free throws converted by the Australians, made the difference.

In the campaign, Brazil won two games in the first phase – against Austria and Japan – and was defeated by Germany. In regulation, the eight teams play the pre-Olympics with two groups of four teams. The top two from each group advanced to the semifinals. Only the champion, in this case Australia itself, qualified.
