Radio Cidade SA – Bridge in Entre-Ijuis: it has stood the test of time for 72 years

-

Opened in 1952, 228 meters long, it now connects the municipalities of Santo Ângelo and Entre-Ijuí. It was built by the then governor of the state of RS Ernesto Dorneles. There is constant traffic of light and heavy vehicles. It serves as a corridor for several municipalities in the region.

It has been 72 years since its inauguration and during this period it has faced the most diverse adversities of the time with floods that have almost reached its protective guard.

Furthermore, the large volume of vehicles with heavy loads often led technicians to seek to speed up reinforcements on the roadway.

Traffic had been interrupted several times so that repairs in pothole repair operations could be expedited. She is there, firm and strong supporting everything and everyone.

And now, April 2024, in the most catastrophic flood situation that the entire State is experiencing, the bridge that connects Santo Ângelo and Entre-Ijuis remains firm, and standing despite the speed of the turbulent waters that once again threaten to reach its protective guard.

The next few hours will be a time of concern for the authorities and communities, as it could be closed at any time for the safety of everyone who uses it.
