‘Nosferatu’ gets release date in Brazil

‘Nosferatu’remake of the classic gothic horror directed by Robert Eggers (‘The Witch’)received a release date in national cinemas.

Horror premieres here on the day January 2, 2025.

Nosferatu‘is an adaptation of the novel’Dracula‘, in Bram Stoker, with characters’ names changed to avoid being sued by the writer’s heirs. The director ended up being sued for copyright infringement, and the court ordered the destruction of copies of the film. However, the film was recently restored and re-released (watch below!).

The story follows Count Orlok, a vampire who falls madly in love with Ellen and brings terror to her city. ‘Nosferatu‘ is considered one of the first representatives of the horror genre in cinema. In 1979, it had a remake directed by Werner Herzog.

When I went to work with Robert Eggers, it was set in the Victorian era. I couldn’t look that muscular. So, I had to really lose weight. And he wanted us to look quite thin in the face.”

The actor also took the opportunity to praise the director Robert Eggers: “Robert Eggers is a cinephile and an encyclopedia of cinema. I didn’t care about the size of the paper [em Nosferatu], or anything – I just wanted to be part of his vision and the limits he’s pushing in film. And when you work with people who are at that level of genius in their craft, there’s an energy with that that you tap into.”
