What comes after Parasite? Since Bong Joon Ho and his bitter social satire won four Oscars in 2020, film fans around the world have been eagerly awaiting the director’s new film, Mickey 17. The sci-fi film has had its premiere postponed twice – and now it must only arrive in early 2025.

Fortunately, the project did not fall into oblivion: after a short teaser in 2023, the film recently had its first trailer shown exclusively at CinemaCon, in Las Vegas. Although it wasn’t released on the internet, we had access to many enthusiastic reactions on social media that promise another stroke of genius from the South Korean director.

A sci-fi comedy?

Mickey, the main character played by Robert Pattinson, works on an alien planet. He needs to carry out risky missions that often cause his death in a brutal way – but that’s okay, as he always ends up being replaced by a new clone.

According to descriptions of several vehicles present at the event, the trailer begins with the image of a severed hand floating through space. After some mission scenes with different versions of the character, we can see the 17th version of Mickey – who, due to a mistake, comes into conflict with his successor Mickey 18, described as an “evil brother”.

On social media, those who have already watched the trailer talk about a “funny”, “action-packed” and “epic” film, with “bizarre and daring” images. Mickey 17 It is scheduled to arrive in Brazil on January 30, 2025.
