Emergency after outbreak of respiratory diseases postpones Cheese Festival – Fun

With an increase in cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), the traditional Cheese Festival in Rochedinho, a city 29.9 km from Campo Grande, was postponed. The event would be held on May 11th. With the postponement, the party will be held on June 8th.

As disclosed, the decision was taken taking into account the period considered as a “peak” of transmission, reported by Fiocruz, based on a survey by the Ministry of Health, which considers the interval from April 27th to May 18th to be a high risk of Contagion.

“We know how important the event is for producers and so many families in Rochedinho, but we understand that the health of our population is a priority. And at this moment, taking precautions and avoiding crowds and new infections is essential for everyone. Given the emergency situation decree, City Hall needs to take some precautions and the postponement of the event follows these precautions”, highlighted Mayor Adriane Lopes.

The postponement was carried out as a preventive measure, so it should be carried out on June 8th.

Emergency situation – Campo Grande reached 987 cases of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), had one death from H1N1 recorded and all health units are full. To try to stop the spread of contamination from respiratory diseases, on April 29th, Sesau (Municipal Health Department) brought together the entire technical team to set up the COE (Emergency Operations Center).

Of the 987 cases of SARS in Campo Grande, according to the Sesau monitoring panel, more than 300 are in children under 1 year of age. These are exactly the cases that fill the Leblon, Coronel Antonino and Universitário UPAs. In one week, a 50% increase in virus cases in adults and a 30% increase in cases in children was recorded.

Santa Casa was the first hospital unit to speak out, offering ten beds. Until the situation stabilizes, the secretariat recommends the use of masks and increased hygiene, as we learned during the Covid pandemic, but, above all, protecting babies and the elderly from crowded places.
