X-ray examination reveals crucifix stuck inside baby’s throat, in Peru | World

A crucifix was found stuck in the throat of a 10-month-old baby during an x-ray examination. The case took place in Peru. The child had to undergo an endoscopy to remove the object, on Saturday (11).

The girl’s mother noticed that the child was in discomfort and decided to take her to the hospital, in the La Libertad region, in northwestern Peru.

After carrying out tests, health professionals realized that the baby had swallowed a crucifix.

Doctor Luis Esteves Cabanillas said that the procedure for removing the object was complicated.

“Even when we tried to get it out initially, we couldn’t, it was stuck, so we tried several times,” he said.

The child’s mother, Maricarmen Sajami Rosas, said that her daughter is doing well and that she was relieved that the medical procedure was successful.

“It’s like starting over. It’s a gift, a blessing, a miracle for saving my daughter.”
