An American named Marissa Carr, aged 20, had a terrible scare after being bitten on the head by a 2.7 meter crocodile in Alexander Springs, Florida, United States. To the TV channel Fox 35she recalled the moments of terror and acknowledged: “I think I’m very lucky.”

The attack took place on the last weekend of October. Marissa says that she was with a friend, Shane, diving in a local lake when she saw two little eyes in the water. Shane said he heard a splash of water and then saw the animal. “I turned around to make sure she was okay and I saw her head in her mouth. [do animal],” reports Shane.

The young woman remembers that everything happened so quickly that she didn’t even realize that it was a crocodile that had bitten her. “It didn’t hurt much at the time. When I was coming back, I saw what it was and that’s when it started to hurt,” she says. “My forehead hurt a lot and my neck wasn’t hurting as much.”

Marissa reports that she was wearing a diving mask and thinks it may have saved her from more serious injuries. A photographer, who was close to the scene, managed to record the accident, including the animal hidden behind them. Look:

“It sounds bad, but him biting my head is probably the best place it could have been, because if he had grabbed my arm and held on better, I could have lost my arm or even my life. I think I’m really, really lucky,” she said.

She doesn’t blame the crocodile and will continue swimming. A Fox 35, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported that a trapper was able to locate the animal and removed it from the area. The lake was temporarily closed, but has now reopened.

This was the second crocodile incident in the region that week alone. On November 1st, a 79-year-old man was also diving at the site when he ‘bumped’ into an animal, but unlike Marissa, he was not attacked.
