Israeli spokesman says there are no discussions about a ceasefire, but that the country has opened humanitarian corridors for civilians
The spokesman for the IDF (Israel Defense Forces, in Portuguese), Daniel Hagari, stated this Wednesday (November 8, 2023) that Hamas “Lose control” of the northern Gaza Strip, while Israeli forces “increase the intensity of the attack” towards Gaza City.
“We saw 50,000 Gazans move from the north of the Gaza Strip to the south. They are moving because they understand that Hamas has lost control in the north.”said the Israeli army spokesman in a press release.
According to Hagari, the extremist group “has lost control and is continuing to lose control in the north”. He said there is not yet a ceasefire under discussion, but that Israel has allowed humanitarian pauses for the territory’s residents to move south.
In recent days, the Israel Defense Forces took control of the city of Beit Hanoun, north of the Gaza Strip, while “repressed Hamas terrorists, tunnels and military infrastructure”according to a post by the Israeli spokesperson on X (formerly Twitter).
“Since the start of the ground operation, IDF forces have eliminated hundreds of terrorists, including senior members of the Hamas organization, in the areas of Beit Hanoun and Jabalia”he wrote.
This Wednesday (Nov 8), Israeli government authorities also released images of civilians leaving the northern Gaza region through the humanitarian corridor established by Israeli forces.
