Amid the tragedy caused by the rains in Rio Grande do Sul, William Bonner, 60 years old, traveled to Porto Alegre to present Jornal Nacional directly from the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. This Thursday morning (9), the journalist shared a photo with a shirt from a club in the city.

The t-shirt chosen by Bonner is from Sogipa, Sociedade de Ginástica de Porto Alegre, a traditional club in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul that was responsible for training several Brazilian athletes in different disciplines, such as judo, basketball, gymnastics and athletics.

In addition to the journalist, Ana Paula Araújo, Patrícia Poet and other Globo professionals went to Rio Grande do Sul to cover the environmental catastrophe that hit the state in loco. To get there, the teams counted on the help of the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).

“I’m in Galeão, in Rio de Janeiro, and I’m heading towards Canoas, in Rio Grande do Sul, aboard a FAB plane that will take donations to that region,” William said in a video.

“One of the planes is taking, for example, a field hospital for people who need help in Rio Grande do Sul. We are going to present the Jornal Nacional there, following this very dramatic moment in the state’s history”, he added.

Because of the seat on the public aircraft, for Bonner and the team that accompanies him, TV Globo will deposit an amount equivalent to the trip as a donation to an institution indicated by the FAB.
