Even on the rise, the Marinho family and Bishop Edir Macedo are still working hard to continue making money and not fall to the ground, given the decline in TV and the inevitable growth of the internet. Proof of this is that, in 2021, a group that seemed promising on screen came to a sad end.

On air between 1983 and 1999, Manchete brought stars such as Raul Gil, Angélica, Xuxa and Simony to the programming. However, the productions had a high price and ended up becoming an irreversible crisis. In the end, it was sold and transformed into the current RedeTV!, which remains on the grid.

Now, a surprising one! In addition to SBT, Silvio Santos tried to get the Copacabana TV, in the 80s. But, unlike the current broadcaster, it was not as successful. Without an audience, the channel was sold to José Carlos Martinez, becoming Rede OM, which was also closed in Brazil.

MixTV

What happened to Mix TV?

One of the most recent cases is that of the Rádio Mix channel, whose main competitor was MTV. Like its rival, the focus was on the younger audience, with music and entertainment. To this day, the public remembers presenters such as Rafa Brites, Maryeva and Caco de Castro.

The debut took place in 2005, on open TV, bringing several attractions, in addition to videos by stars such as Beyoncé, Britney Spears and national bands. In 2014, they transformed into a cable TV station, but the crisis was severe and transmissions ended 3 years later.
