With the return of Soulmate (2005) starting this Monday (29th) on Globo, actress Liliana Castro will return to the air. She plays Luna in the soap opera by Walcyr Carrasco, which will replace Paraíso Tropical (2007) in Vale a Pena Ver de Novo.
It was the fourth soap opera in the actress’s career, who did several works on Brazilian television. But the plot, which was a huge audience success, was also marked in Liliana Castro’s life due to a tragic loss.
The actress has been away from soap operas for 14 years, since she was in Ribeirão do Tempo (2010), on Record.
Most notable role
Among Liliana Castro’s various novels, Alma Gêmea, without a doubt, is the most striking. The actress played Luna, the great love of Rafael (Eduardo Moscovis), who dies in the first chapter after a setup by her cousin, the envious and evil Cristina (Flavia Alessandra).
In Walcyr Carrasco’s plot, Luna’s soul returns to Earth shortly after her death, reincarnating in Serena (Priscila Fantin). But Liliana Castro continues in the plot, appearing as Luna in flashbacks and also in scenes where she comes face to face with Serena.
What happened to Liliana Castro, Soulmate Luna?
Liliana Castro was very successful in Alma Gêmea and is still remembered for the soap opera today. However, not everything was rosy during the filming of the plot in 2005. The actress went through a tragedy in her personal life.
During recording, Liliana tragically lost her brother. But, amidst the sadness, she had the unconditional support of the plot team and, mainly, of her co-stars Priscila Fantin and Emiliano Queiroz.
“The truth is that losses cannot be overcome. What happens is that over time, we learn to live with them. As my dear Emiliano Queiroz taught me, with his eternal wisdom and sensitivity: ‘Pain doesn’t go away, but over time, we learn to feel the presence of the one we love more than the absence”, he recalled, to Gshow.
Despite the sadness, Liliana Castro continued her career. So much so that, at the same time as the soap opera, the actress attended film school and then completed a master’s degree in performing arts in London, where she also studied acting and dancing.
Where is Liliana Castro, Soulmate Luna?
Daughter of a Brazilian diplomat and an Argentine mother, Liliana Castro was born in Ecuador and lived in eight different countries, only coming to Brazil when she was 16 years old. His TV debut was in a role in Força de um Desire (1999), on Globo.
Then, Liliana, who is currently 44 years old, became a presenter on Fox Kids and played the villain Polca in the children’s show Ilha Rá-Tim-Bum (2002), on TV Cultura. In the same year, she returned to Globo in Sabor da Paixão, following with Da Cor do Pecado (2004) and Alma Gêmea.
In 2007, he moved to Record, working in Caminhos do Coração, Os Mutantes (2008) and Ribeirão do Tempo. In the 2000s, Liliana Castro appeared in the series Fora de Controle (2012), Só Garotas (2014) and Psi (2017-2019).
The actress has lived in the USA since 2012. There, she also became the presenter of the Socratica channel, on YouTube.
“I’ve never lived in the same place for a long time. When I didn’t change countries, I changed cities, or houses. Maybe in the future it will be in Brazil again, maybe any other country where I feel I need to be,” she concluded.
