Janete Clair’s classic soap opera will be remade by a competitor on TV Globo


The soap opera Hero dad originally produced by Globo, written by Janete Clair, will receive a remake In the next years. A HBO Maxstreaming platform and direct competitor of Globoplay, will be responsible for the new version of the serial shown in 1979.

Renata Dias Gomesgranddaughter of the late novelist, who died in 1983, holds the rights to the work and will be responsible for writing the remake, with the aim of setting it in the present dayinstead of producing a period story.

In its first and only broadcast on open TV, Hero dad was shown on Globo between January 29th and August 18th, 1979, and was re-presented in full on Canal Viva between 2016 and 2017. The plot was starred by Tony Ramos and Elizabeth Savalla.

In addition to Hero dadthe HBO Max platform is already in the production phase with two soap operas: the unprecedented Fatal Beautyand the remake of Dona Bejaa second version of the hit from the extinct Rede Manchete, from 1986. The works are expected to be released next year.
