How many people live with you at home? Two? Three? Eight? Well, that’s not the case for the largest family in the world, which has 199 members under the same roof — or roofs, since the building they inhabit has a total of five floors.
The family of patriarch Pu Ziona — who unfortunately passed away in 2021, aged 76 — lives in the village of Baktawng, in northeast India. Still, all 89 children, with 39 husbands and wives, in addition to his 36 grandchildren, continue to live side by side, or upstairs and downstairs.

One of the children told The Straits Times that everyone gets together at least twice a day to eat, a scene that is more reminiscent of a food court than a family dinner.
Furthermore, they are forced to share everything, such as the daily household workload, food and finances.
Some want to send their children to places where they can get a better education and increase their chances of success in life. But others, like the firstborn, Nunparliana, want everyone there together.
Another house has been built to accommodate the gigantic family which, believe me!, keeps growing. So much so that it attracts many tourists to the region, who are intrigued by the history.
